SITHONIA CUP OF NORTH AEGEAN

The 2017 North Aegean Cup will be held from 29 July to 4 August at Porto Carras in Sithonia, Halkidiki. Races will take place in Toroneos Bay In an ideal setting where Porto Carras is located and under the summer Greek sun, the open seas will offer thrills to those who participate in the games but also to those who watch them. Preparations have begun for quite some time, with the nautical Club of Thessaloniki  mobilizing its potential, so that these struggles can be crowned with absolute success. The North Aegean Cup 2017 will present top sailors from all over Greece.

 The opening ceremony will take place on Sunday 30.7.2017.

"Alexis Zorbas" by Nikos Kazantzakis

 "Life and the State of Alexis Zorbas" was revived with the original music of Mikis Theodorakis, in a unique adaptation of Thanasis Papathanasiou and Michalis Reppas and directed by Stamatis Fasoulis. Alexis Zorba embodies Gregory Valtinos. On the stage we will see the "unique dialogue of a calamar and a great man of the people, a dialogue between the lawyer and the great soul of the people," as Nikos Kazantzakis himself says about his longstanding friendship with Zorbas.

The German Focus magazine, in a recent survey of the best destinations, drew the region of Halkidiki. Begin the description of the 550 km beach with countless creeks for every taste. It suggests scuba diving to discover an underwater world with incredible variety. Apart from the organized and busy beaches, it does not fail to mention the deserted ones. Concluding that the Kassandra peninsula and the Sithonia peninsula are a retreat for renowned tourists every year.

On Sithoniagreece.com we have listed 16 beaches with this designation. There is also a ‘Blue Flag’ marina in Sithonia. In 2016 Greece had 430 ‘Blue Flag’ beaches, which placed in 3rd position among 50 countries. Of these ‘Blue flag’ beaches in Greece, Halkidiki has the largest number of any municipality with 52 ‘Blue Flags’.

Pefkohori beach Halkidiki: It is afabulous beach with amazing blue waters and nice facilities located 68 km south of Poligiros, the main town of Halkidiki and 80 km from Thessaloniki. Pefkohori is a lovly beach resort and very busy during the high season. It is an ideal destinations, for the nature lovers gifted with some beautiful spots such as the nearby beach of Pagliouri which is a lovely camping site as well. The waters are so calm and clear and a nice swimming spot for families. The waterfront promenade of Pefkohori is lined with nice taverns with charming terraces overlooking the beach. Besides sunbathing and swimming, Pefkohori beach offers many snorkeling sites.

Skala Fourkas beach Halkidiki: Skala Fourkas is a popular beach resort located 64 km south of Poligiros, on the southern side of Kassandra. Surrounded by low hills with lush greenery and large in size, Skala Fourkas gets frequented in summer with visitors from Fourka and other nearby resorts, such as Siviri, Possidi and Mola Kalyva. The sandy beach is organized with sunbeds, umbrellas and fish taverns. Close to the beach, there is a small port for fishing boats.
